Deal makes zero sense for the Oilers. Keith at 38 years old and 2 years left at well over $5M is not a crazy attractive piece. Plus its up to him where he wants to be moved so the Hawks don't have a ton of leverage. Only way the Oilers make the deal is Neal for Keith. Money is close and same term. We are absolutely not moving a good young player in Jones for him. All that means is that we then lose Lagesson in expansion. Keith obviously has good leadership and experience, but given that the Oilers window is just now opening and Chicagos is more or less closed (at least for the time being, even if they try to do a quick retooling). Oilers need to use their cap space effectively and eating up over $5M for a 38 year old for the next two years is quite frankly idiotic. Money needs to be going back. This deal as it stands effectively prevents the Oilers from signing a top 6 LW which we desperately need.

You trimmed any and all fat off your comeback and still made perfect hilarious sense!

Detroit would be interested but not for their own 2nd. If you'll accept the Edmonton pick it's a deal.
