Description
RD and 7-8 depth concerns me but I think it should work. Capwise, if Geno only misses 2 weeks, they are back to the magical $1 mill cap breather.

The pens aren’t losing MP to expansion. He is 1 of only 3 dmen worth protecting that aren’t expansion exempt. And the pens aren’t trading to get rid of a bigger contract. Especially not one that would be easy to trade after expansion for assets that are useful.

They can't pay 4 mil plus for every LD 1-3. MP is the sacrifice/trade you make. MM is the one that most teams would want but the term is way to scary.

Sure they can. They did it this year. They have 3.2 million in cap space. If the pens are going to pay to trade a higher paid LD it would be Matheson, not Pettersson. And again, they could trade Pettersson and actually get valuable assets back rather than paying to give him away. So it doesn’t make sense to expose him.

Just a question, have you checked out MP's stats vs MM's?

Canes should pass

Geekie is worth more to Carolina than +20 spots in this draft and -10-20 spots this/next year (assuming Carolina is a playoff team next year)
