Description
Bringing in landeskog provides the Jets with a solidified top 6 for the foreseeable future, while also bringing in a strong leader and someone to help the culture. Perfetti leapfrogs wheeler next year. Hamilton is brought in to play alongside Heinola, it’s a risky pairing but fun to watch that’s for sure. Could swap hamilton and pionk to balance things a bit. Stanley definitely could be ready for top 4 minutes as well so he could swap with Heinola if need be.

Now this doesn’t fit Chevy’s MO at all, hence the title. But this would be a dream scenario. I know a lot of Jets fans aren’t huge on chasing hamilton if he hits FA. But he would solidify the top 4 and provide a high end PP option. If Landeskog isn’t interested in coming to WPG or happy with this price, I honestly believe Perfetti could jump into that spot. Can also look at a guy like Tatar or Schwartz to fill that spot at a cheaper price. Landeskog should be a target for Chevy if he hits FA.

Also, before anyone asks how the cap would workout next year with PLD needing a new deal, vesalainen needing one and appleton as well, that’s an issue to figure out after next season. If you have to, you can look at a trade involving Kyle Connor, wheeler would ideally head to LTIR but this isn’t Tampa. If Perfetti impresses as 3C, maybe exploring a PLD trade would be on the table as well. I mean hey, at this pace PLD and Laine won’t be on their respective teams come 2022-23 lol.

I like the idea, but possibly instead of the landeskog, I wonder what the ask is on bertuzzi, obviously not the resume or the top end numbers potential of landeskog, but could add some of the same needs in top 6, another thought for me would be trying to pull cernak from Tb with some cap. I still believe Jets need cernak/sergachev/bertuzzi away from being physical enough to truly contend. But just an opinion and hope Jets not heading for bubble status.

Bertuzzi wouldn’t be cheap but he’s not going to cost you asinine amounts. The deal needs to make sense for Detroit and they need LHD or Cs.

I looked at Wheeler's buyout, it isn't very friendly at any point so idk how you'd fit anyone in who needs a raise going forward, not that Landeskog or Hamilton are really signing with the Jets anyway though.. haha

Think Tatar would be a good signing if they could convince him, Armia too.

Yeah hamilton and landeskog are both unrealistic, maybe swap them for Bertuzzi in a DET trade involving Copp, and trade for cernak from Tampa? That might be more realistic. Who knows.

As for future extensions, I just figured they could trade one of the bigger deals like a PLD or a Connor.

Can't trade Connor, they have so few guys who can score as it is, maybe PLD cause depending how this season goes he may be on his way out anyway, wonder if he isn't already eyeing his quickest route to UFA.

I don't see Tampa trading Cernak, they always figure out their cap issues and it won't be any different this time, they won't trade Cernak to gain space.

Jets need a Bertuzzi type, Yzerman would take Chevy to the cleaners though.. 😃
