Description
Hoping for Duchene to bounce back obviously. I see the risk of keeping DROUIN (who may take another leave of absence at the worst possible time) balanced by DUCHENE (who may have some attitude problems). But this helps Montreal down the middle and reduces the logjam on the wings and helps Nashville too. Verge in can tell Suzuki and Caufield in future negotiations: “Look everyone knows Duchene is overpaid. We will pay you what YOU are worth compared to other league appropriate contracts, not based on what Duchene’s contract was.”

No, Drouin only has 2 years left vs Duchene who has 5...

- Duchene is gonna be 31 and had 1.4 P/60 last year.

- Drouin is only 26 and had 1.9 P/60 last year, a career low for him also.

I don't see how anyone could possibly support this trade, unless you have some sort of agenda against Drouin.

Duchene is 30 has 12 years in the league and over 800 games thats alot of miles already. Him being productive for 5 more years is not gonna happen. Give dvorak the minutes and the quality wingers he'll be more poductive for less money.

Agree with the two posts above, plus Leafs can't afford the 800,00 difference in the trade proposed, and probably like Mikheyev better anyway.

Only trade here that MTL would do is the Byron deal. Everything else is crap for them

I guess you could call it an “agenda” against Drouin. I just have real concerns about him dropping out before the playoffs again (either officially, like he did last year, or unofficially— in that he is just not engaged in the playoff hockey mentality because his mind is elsewhere).
I acknowledge that I cannot say with any certainty that the above situation will happen again (hopefully it was just a one time event for everyone’s sake). However, those people that believe in him more than I do after last year’s leave of absence cannot really say with any more certainty that the same thing won’t happen again. Then Montreal has a $5.5M regular season player and nothing in the playoffs.
TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE Duchene never had this issue. If I am wrong about Duchene doing such a thing in the past then someone can inform me about this and I would reconsider my position
