Nice sales pitch on Kravtsov, only I would think he’s going to a team that would play him in the NHL. No Hershey for him.

He's not heading to Hershey. The biggest issue is that he's not going to AHL. Not that the offer is enough...Hagelin's a cap dump and Johansen's virtually valueless, no one took him from waivers for free.

You can’t use waivers to determine a players value. There’s a lot that goes into a waiver claim: number of contracts, money, future waivers etc.

I agree and disagree. There's many things to take into account in terms of whether or not to pick a player from waivers should that happen, sure. But there also the fact that primary assets who get waived, like ABB for instance, are going to get picked.

In this case, the trade is a cap dump and a career AHL guy for a semi high end prospect unwilling to play in AHL. Maybe waivers can't be used as a measure of value per se, but if a player worth picking up gets available, teams are going to manage accordingly to land the player they believe is worth it.
