DAL declines easily. Petry has been incredibly disappointing this year and he's already 33, and a bottom-6 winger in Lehkonen doesn't really do anything for us.

Plus reportedly Klingberg wants a 7-8 year deal at $62-66M in total salary so you're about a million off there.

OK but only if you agree to trade Suzuki for Comeau.

Petry could never score another point in MTL and still never be traded
He does everything else so well and those around him player above their capabilities

If anything we'd trade for Kilngberg to play with Petry
Those 2 together gives MTL what they need on the blue line

That said i think its a slim to no chance deal unless Anderson is involved
As much as we love Anderson and we do
Its just the way she goes as the only way this cap works with Suzuki's new deal on the books for next year
Is if we move out Anderson

But MTL isnt moving Petry
He and Gallagher are short list for next Captain
More important our RD depth is Petry and no one of not.
Niku is found gold for 3rd pair
Savard is Alzner 2.0 with similar production offensive but less productive in every other respect
Widemans a good 7th D option

But 2/3 are likely gone next year to a team that can offer them more
MTL has no RD of note in the AHL or Junior that we can use
There's none that are UFA's next year that are likely to even interview with MTL

No MTL has been and i say that as a MTL fan

Petry is 1/2 habs capable of 20 plus minutes and the only option capable of 23-25 nightly if needed.
We offered him 1 top 4 capable player and signed Alzner 2.0 to replace Weber

Our Gm should be let go and Mellanby given command Interim til summer pending evaluation.
He cant do any worse then MB did this summer anchoring us with Alzner 2.0 while we still have Alzner 1.0 on the cap for 3 more years

Its been Brutal watching him destroy a SCF runner up team
all 4 Conference finals teams lost players
MTL is the only one worse off then last year

The Habs team is so much like the 2017 Ottawa senators it’s not even funny. A team that way over performed due to a goalie standing on his head. Montreal had no business making it that far let alone making the playoffs. What happened to the Sens the following years is what will happen to the Habs. People are just slow to see how awful they really are. I don’t want to take away last years run. It was truly incredible. I even found myself cheering for them. But 100% had no business being there.
