I think they'd be better if they replaced Raanta instead of Andersen. If Hamilton stays I don't think it's a good idea to go for Eichel either. Keep that depth, and maybe pay for a cheaper middle six player that isn't Kotkaniemi. I'd call that a successful offseason. Either way, the Canes are dominating right now, so I guess the moves they did make are paying off.

      Freddie > Ned

It's one or the other with Eichel or Dougie. Carolina's blueline hasn't missed a beat without Dougie and doesn't risk that albatross deal in the future. Eichel would have been nice, but Carolina never held any serious talks. They were wanting to see how low Buffalo's price got that they could jump on it without any major pieces being given up. They weren't going to subtract two key parts from the roster like this.

Canes were never really in on Eichel. While they were in on trade talks, they were only in it to raise the price for other teams. Canes have one of the best Center core in the league right now, if not the best. Eichel would provide more scoring, but it would ruin our cap situation.

In terms of Hamilton, it would have been Eichel or Hamilton, not both. Ned is good, but he is relatively unproven, which is why they went with Andersen, and that bet paid off so far. Also, Nino is not a cap dump. He has always played at a 20 goal pace each season. While he may be inconsistent offensively, he is one of the premier defensive wingers in the league.

With how Jarvis has looked since he debuted, Canes were smart not to trade him.

It's impossible for one of *the* best Corsi players of his generation to be a cap jettison but sure keep ignoring statistics that take a second to search

      Should be common knowledge too

Nino's possession exploits have been extraordinary

You really can't compare Trochek and Tuck. Sabres like 5/6 years of Tuck compared to UFA Trochek.
