Hm, idk it doesn't seem like they've lost that many key player games to injury and the key issue seems that they lost an entire solid top D pair with

Weber (retired?)

Petry (ghost of himself)

Once again Bergevin relying too much on aging guys

Weber tied for 5th oldest NHL D Petry tied for 12th

EDIT:

Yup 10 of their core have played all 16 games and 19 players have 10+ so injuries aren't a big concern especially with Price being mediocre at best

@LyleBubas linked recently a chart

Price is one of *the* worst xGSA goalies since 2017

Not a big loss naturally

It's just a mediocre team folks Bergevin sucks

Montreal is behind only Vegas (85) in MG lost due to injury at 78 (not including Weber). Factor in that most of the injuries have been to key players and not really a ton of fring players and the picture becomes clearer. Basically Toffoli, Armia and Lehkonen are the only forwards not injured so far and the only D not injured so far are Romanov and bottom pairing quality guys like Kulak, Savard, Chiarot and Wideman.

Well the main thing is that the habs lost 2 D pairs, with Weber retiring, Petry falling off a cliff, and Edmundson having yet to play a game.

The Habs problem are mainly due to losing our best 2 pairs as Weber retired, and Edmundson hasn't played yet while Petry has struggled without him, it also doesn't help when your best forwards can't stay healthy
