Description

Shut it down tomorrow to get a handle on this COVID outbreak, come back healthy, and gut this piece of crap blueline. Chabot and a bunch of AHL call-ups put on a better defensive performance than the healthy group has put together all season.

Heatherington and Thomson were excellent tonight. Heatherington was physical, and solid defensively, and Lassi looked like he was playing in his 1000th game, not his 1st. He was so great in his positional play, cutting off potentially dangerous rush chances. Played 22 minutes and didn't looked overwhelmed at all.

Mobility is everything in defending in today's NHL. Lassi can really skate, he's got the motor to play big minutes (eventually), and he was so strong in his positioning and gap control.

Nothing coming on the blueline, but Agozzino was sent down after the game, which means someone is coming back, and Shane Pinto is the only guy out that's not in COVID protocol. So that's something

This seems so obvious (while waiting Sanderson), if healthy :

Chabot - Thomson
Brannstrom - Zub
Holden - Zaitsev

* Del Zotto and Josh Brown waived/traded/buried whatever
** Mete as the 7th guy, he's fast, young and cheap. Keep him because it's important to have depth
*** Give Zaitsev the easiest role on the team, easiest minutes. Give him time to find his game. He was much better last year, he might have personal problems again.
**** Leave JBD in the AHL this season, he needs a lot of pro experience first.
***** Heatherington as first call up
