comparing a former 2nd round pick to a #9OA? Don't think much of a comp there...in the end the market will determine Krav's worth...but if that meager return is all that's out there- he'll be playing an awful lot of KHL hockey.

Where they were drafted really shouldn't matter at this point. Kravtsov was picked a little high. But thought it at the time as wel. He had been the buzzy prospect after a fantastic run in playoffs as 18-year old. And probably should have been selected in the 25-50 range.

If they had been shopping him for a 2nd, and found no takers, one would think a 3rd and 4th would be logical price, no?

But it does matter where they were drafted...you are correct in one sense- at a certain point the __ OA pick in any draft becomes another young prospect who needs to find his way. But the optics of a team giving up on a prospect are pretty bad. And the higher that prospect was picked makes the optics infinitely worse. And btw I believe most draft experts had him in the teens for his draft. This is why EDM didn't quickly give up on JP (who if they received a good offer would have probably moved a year or so ago). Krav's biggest problem is his maturity...not his talent. I'd expect that when he does grow up a bit he's going to be a pretty good NHL player...for the Rangers or someone else. But if Drury were to jettison him now for 2 picks...both with a historic low probability of amounting to anything at the NHL level...and then Krav becomes a top 6 fwd, let alone a star- Drury will be run out of town.
