Maybe its an off-season move if Bear wants more than we were expecting to re-sign. Right now our issue is 5v5 scoring. We need to add more for the playoffs when whistles are swallowed.

The only players Carolina might have any interest in on the Sabres roster would be Dahlin, Power, Olofsson, or Peterka, and possibly Luukonen as well. Cozens and Thompson would also draw interest as RHC. That’s also a pretty steep price for Olofsson. Canes won’t trade Bear, especially in this case where the RD that we get back is worse than Bear. Anderson was a great goalie, and he is a bit old to really bring much success, and if the Canes send him down to the AHL, he would just take time away from goalies we are developing. Canes are probably better off sacrificing some of their future pieces for better players now.

Bear is not the player we should target on RHD. He is not good defensively. Also Olofsson is not just a PP specialist. Only 4 of his 19 points this year are on the PP.

Olofsson has been much better 5v5 since Kruger was fired
