Yeah, I just think if they're spending basically two 1sts, they should address a need. The Panthers are loaded at the wings (which is why Tippett is falling out of favor). They don't necessarily need a guy like Brown.
They could get a legitimate top4 dman with this price. Someone like Severson from NJ, I'd say. Brown would be a risk they don't have to take since he's been on a 60-point pace for only 26 games.
Connor Brown brings a LOT MORE than points though. He's a match up forward who scores mainly at ES (~top-70 in the NHL) and on the PK (elite Pker). He got quite good at takeaways (was 2nd behind Mark Stone last season) and received Selke votes last season.
Reinhart and Brown should be switched in OP's lineup
Marchment - Lundell - Brown
would be hell of a 3rd line
And Brown scoring is just not from this season, 0.63 PPG in Ottawa (153 GP)
Ottawa should add a little something but what? What kind of depth the Panthers need?
All that being said, even though this trade is very good, I hope the Sens actually extend Connor Brown instead of trading him. Players like that don't grow on trees.
