Description
LeBrun thinks the Wild are in on Giroux, Russo doesn’t see it. I don’t see it and I feel like it would be a mistake, especially since Giroux doesn’t really play C any more.

McBain is the wild card. The team is likely gonna have to offer him NHL time this year to get him signed. I’m not sure where he fits, but it could be an interesting trial run for him. Maybe you throw him next to Boldy but he seems more like a Sturm replacement than anything.

But even that just feels like treading water. If this is what gets McBain, awesome. But it’s really hard to see any moves of much consequence.

IDK, this is the hot one right now. He’s played 40 playoff games. Maybe they think he’s better than Rask. Melnyk saves some money on salary.

I don’t think McBain is ready to step in. I could maybe see him getting some throwaway games near the end, but he’s not getting playoff time.

Agreed. But I really wonder how much they want to sign him. I’m not sure what they can give as a signing bonus but it’s really difficult to see him signing unless he’s guaranteed some NHL time.

I think he's more ready than anyone else in MN's prospect pool. He just needs to roughly as good as replace Bjugstad/Dewar/Rask to get into the lineup. Not a huge hurdle to get over.

Put him with Boldy/Fiala and see if he is a better fit than Freddy G. Keep Sturm/Duhaime together, and Freddy G is a more natural fit with that line anyways.

I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with you more….

Yeah hard to say. I personally don’t think they’d promise him games, but I could be wrong. I def think he’s a player you want in the organization and his contract situation is unique where maybe they adjust the usual “everyone has to earn a spot” philosophy. I don’t see it, but I’m not very familiar with how these types of situations usually play out.

Yeah I think he just needs to start getting some games again. He hasn’t played in over a month and doesn’t seem slotted to see much Olympic time. If we’re trying to sign him right after that wraps up, then I think he needs Iowa games. That can be his earn it moment. December games against UConn are a lot different than February/March games against the Jets.

Before anything else, he just needs to consistently be playing hockey.
