Description
Calgary fans seem tired and fed up of Monahan. He has 1 year left at 6M. There seems to be a connection between a Toffoli and Calgary as well.

For Montreal, Monahan would make sense as a #2 next year between Suzuki as a #1 and Shane Wright as a #3. Montreal could then flip Monahan at next years deadline if they want. This would of course mean that Dvorak becomes available either to Calgary to fill Monahan’s spot or to another team. I think calgary needs the cap space though next year to sign Tkachuk, Gaudreau and Mangiapane.

So I think this makes sense for both teams. Calgary adds depth up front and opens up 4M in cap space which should be enough to cover the raises due to the 3 aforementioned players or at least a good chunk of it.

Lucic has 1 year left at 5M so Montreal can also take him he Calgary doesn’t feel he is worth 5M anymore. I don’t think he’s a cap dump because I think he’s playing better nowadays but just maybe not as a 5M player

And then Dvorak plays 3rd line LW? That would be funny to see after what they paid to get him.

I think Toffoli makes sense for the Flames but I'd be interested to see how willing they would be to part with Coronato. I mean, they are in win mode right now so I don't see it being horrible.

Also, does Montreal really want a RW prospect with Gallagher, Caufield, and Anderson signed for so long?

Every player is going to be a really good player, until they aren't.

As I mentioned, this would open up Dvorak to be traded. Friedman and Marek said a few western teams are interested so a trade like this would mean Dvorak would get traded.

I figure they would be more open to trade Coronato than Pelletier. By all accounts, Pelletier is off limits and I prefer coronato over Zary personally.

As for the logjam on the right side in Montreal, I think Gallagher eventually moves on and coronato is 2 years away at least

So Montreal pays for Dvorak for 1 season, then sells him off for a cheaper price than they got him for so that they can pickup 1 year of Monahan to replace him? I don't know how good that'll make management look to the fans or the players.

Agreed on Pelletier.

Gallagher just signed a 6 year deal for the team that he has played for his whole career. A real fan-favorite, and a pest to other teams. Not sure what would give you the intention that he moves on
