Trades
1.
VAN
  1. Zacha, Pavel
  2. Zetterlund, Fabian
  3. 2022 4th round pick (EDM)
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
Bumped the 2nd to 23' in order to let the Devils use their second this year because it is likely a higher pick compared to the one in 22'.
NJD
  1. Boeser, Brock
  2. Poolman, Tucker
Additional Details:
I consider this to be a fair value with New Jersey taking on Tucker Poolman. With the likely departure of Subban and the possibility of Severson being traded, that leaves Dougie Hamilton on the right side. Poolman is a more then capable third pairing guy.
2.
VAN
  1. Hagelin, Carl
  2. Iorio, Vincent
  3. McMichael, Connor
  4. 2022 1st round pick (WSH)
  5. 2024 4th round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
Connor McMichael will be a hard piece to part with but when he is in his prime the Capitals will not be. The 2024 4th has a condition that if Miller re-signs it turns into a 3rd.
WSH
  1. Miller, J.T. ($1,312,500 retained)
  2. Motte, Tyler
Additional Details:
Washington goes all in to try and get a cup while their top players are in their prime. Money retained on Miller to give Washington the extra cap flexibility.
3.
VAN
  1. Zadorov, Nikita
  2. 2023 4th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
This move is made for clearing future cap space and whether Canucks have Zadorov in their plans or not, Rutherford gets what he wants.
CGY
  1. Pearson, Tanner
Additional Details:
Calgary is in win now mode and the trade for Toffoli signifies it. Pearson and Toffoli were part of the 70's line when LA won a cup and with Calgary stockpiling former Canucks, Pearson would make sense.
4.
VAN
  1. Comeau, Blake
  2. Khudobin, Anton
  3. 2022 4th round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Vancouver takes back dead money from Dallas and possibly buys out Khudobin in the offseason.
DAL
  1. Dickinson, Jason
  2. Myers, Tyler
Additional Details:
With Dallas on the cusp of a wildcard spot and Klingberg likely on his way out the window, Myers who has had a great year (not offensively) and analytics have showed him and Ekman-Larsson as one of the top shutdown pairs. Dallas also gets Dickinson back for a downgrade in a pick from what they traded him for.
5.
VAN
  1. 2023 5th round pick (PIT)
PIT
  1. Halák, Jaroslav ($750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Canucks retain Halak at 50% but Penguins pay his bonus after the season.

Pearson has one more point than Lucic and brings an eighth of the leadership, toughness and likeability. He's also got an extra year on a the deal that Calgary doesn't need. Zadorov has been a perfect 3LD, no need to make that move.

Caps probably don't do that. If they are moving McMichael it needs to be someone younger and more cost controlled.

I like the trade for the Devils.
Zetterlund + 2nd + 4th should make up for the difference in value between Boeser - Zacha.
If anything your reasoning is a little bit flawed, Devils wouldn't trade for Boeser while simultaneously moving Severson.
As such Poolman isn't really needed, but if VAN really needed to move his cap I believe it'd be fine to leave Poolman in.

Caps need to win a cup and this deal helps them. Lapierre has a scary injury history so good luck trying to find a team that wants him back as the primary piece.
