MTL
  1. Samsonov, Ilya
Additional Details:
I really don't see the why behind this, Samsonov is good but you've already got Allen, Montembault (Who showed he can be a backup in this league) and then a plethora of promising prospect*. This brings me to believe they're either looking to trade Allen when he's back from his injury (Likely a deal already in place somewhere to be a backup?) and bring Sammy as the clear-cut starter or Montreal is looking to be better next year thus going against the idea of a rebuild.

*Primeau had a setback but still figures to be a goaltender in the NHL, Dobes and Dichow are showing elite numbers in their respective leagues and Vrbetic is a wild card who has a much better statline in his second season in the OHL.
WSH
  1. Mailloux, Logan [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
This kid was a very controversial pick but I'm a firm believer of Mailloux and think he'll become a very good hockey player yet now reports say it is believed that Montreal is looking to make a hockey trade for Samsonov, who adds? If the new management in place is looking to clear the Bergevin era from our memories well Mailloux is one of the dominos that they might be looking at.

Mailloux has more value to Montreal by a mile than he does anywhere else. I think he'll be a very good defenceman personally but he's always going to be "that guy" so, Caps pass easily. They also need a goalie to compete.
When Mailloux was drafted - the Sportsnet panel that covered that draft all had negative things to say about him, except Gorton - so I don't think the Habs move him.

Troll Post or not. Picking Logan Mailloux was a bad call. But at this point, there are people in hockey who believe that he has surpassed Kaiden Guhle in the Habs depth chart. Dale Hunter said that he would be NHL ready next year. Trading him would be a mistake, unless someone is offering an NHL ready prospect and not very good back up goalie.

No reason to MTL to do this
Mailloux is our only legit RHD prospect with top 4 + potential

I don't buy the single report about the Habs going in on Samsonov. I'm not super familiar with RDS but this feels like a report simply to get attention, not with any credibility. Now, if Washington was to trade Samsonov, this might be a decent piece to get back. I really like what I've seen from Mailloux and I think he could have gone higher this year if every team honored his wish to not be drafted. Only problem there is the Washington would be without a goalie. I've been against trading Samsonov for quite a while, and I don't think Washington will, but this is at least better value than a lot of trades that I have seen.
