You can't make conditional re-signings a part of a trade. Also, we'd need to make it a 2024 pick since we're probably going to use the 2023 1st on Giroux.

CBJ pass. As nice as the current run has been, there is a lot of season left to play, a more difficult schedule coming up, and roster turnover at the TDL that can make that pick much more valuable.

Is that trade for Horvat a very likely package in return for Horvat from a contender yes, and you’d probably get another prospect. Should Columbus be interested, yes, but if Columbus is giving up a likely top 10 pick I’d want Horvat for longer than a year and a half. Columbus isn’t contending this season, and likely won’t be next season so is it really a good trade for them?
