Description

Zacha - provides depth at C if needed, and in 2023 can potentially take over the 3C if Eller has to be moved out. Adds in some youth into the aging forward group to pair with McMichael and Lapierre moving forward. The deal also allows the Caps to take Hagelin's 2.75 off the books in 2023. Additionally, this clears enough room to make these moves AND activate Mantha off of LTIR once he's ready, and accumulate a bit of cap space to cover the bonus overages the Caps will incur from Fehervary this year.

Holtby - provides a stopgap pairing with Vanecek.

Lineup decisions - Zacha or Sheary can play 2 or 3 LW. Jonsson Fjallby deserves to take over the 4LW. Wildcards are Snively, Sprong & McMichael. Could theoretically slide them as the 3LW, Zacha at 2LW and Sheary at 4LW as well and scratch Jonsson Fjallby. Dealers choice and creates good competition.

Interesting Zacha trade, I don't hate it. And a Happy Birthday to Mr. Samsonov apparently after snooping his EP.

I think Dallas will get better offers for Holtby though.

Maybe I haven't followed him as much, but what's with all the trade rumors and news regarding Samsonov? Isn't he supposed to be one of the top 5 young goalies in the league? From a NJ perspective I'd do that deal, Just wondering whats up with Samsonov.
