My best guess is a 1st given his term and AAV. If you are moving Marino this would easily be the best replacement.

I hope they don't trade Murphy. I understand the rebuild statement KD made, but Kaner also said he wants to stay a Hawk for life. Having good veterans to help the kids develop into good professionals is key to a rebuild.

I could see a swap of Kubalik for Kapanen and maybe a 3rd thrown in back to Chicago. I just don't see them moving Murphy after just extending him and Kap doesn't have a ton of value at this point whereas Murphy is probably a late 1st plus.

If I were Hextall I'd so a 1st for Murphy. Part of the reason for moving Kap is salary, so taking Kubalik back doesn't accomplish that goal. I guess the Pens could always flip Kubalik, but I don't know if they can accomplish that in one swoop.
