Description
Roy is a steady, athletic minute-eater. Can be deployed with Dahlin or Power, whoever could use him anchoring their pairing more. Dahlin also plays well with Bryson, so I think the right side can be more flexible than I've arranged it. Not 100% on the values, but LAK is looking good on the right with Doughty and Durzi and Clarke and like three other RHD they have over there. RHD always comes at a premium though, but we can afford to ship those pieces.

BUF-CGY-PHI trade is a little more complex, but I think it's a productive way to leverage our cap space. CGY can offload his contract while framing it to Monahan as a move to Philly (so he'd waive the short trip through BUF assumedly). PHI acquires a young, talented RHD so they can banish Risto further down the chart and potentially a skilled 2C, depending on how the change of scenery goes. It's a little risky for them, but they're going to have to take risks somewhere if they don't want to fully rebuild.

  1. Roy, Matt
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (LAK)
LAK
  1. Johnson, Ryan [Reserve List]
  2. Olofsson, Victor [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
LAK gets an RFA goal scoring winger who can play either side, and a silky LHD prospect who's just about NHL ready
2.
BUF
  1. Monahan, Sean
Additional Details:
3-way trade
CGY
  1. 2022 5th round pick (NJD)

PHI
  1. Jokiharju, Henri
  2. Monahan, Sean ($3,187,000 retained)
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Almost same cap hit, PIT can demote Risto to third pair with a young RHD and cheap change of scenery project in Monahan. Similar cap hits so doesn't heavily affect their retooling.

How about we swap Helge Grans or Jordan Spence for Ryan Johnson instead?

I like your idea of keeping the Johnson - Faber defense pairing together.

Kings aren't ready to do without Roy yet. He won't be available until next season's trade deadline at the earliest.

LA would have Walker too. An Olofsson for Roy swap is fair value imo, no need for us to throw in Johnson. If Monahan is worth so little with retention, why would him and Joki along with a 3rd get us a top 6 winger?

I would probably want a bit more than a 3rd for Monahan
