I think this makes a ton of sense for both teams.
For NJ: I think Fiala will happily sign in NJ to play with fellow Swiss Hischier. He’s in right age group and would fit in nicely
For MIN: they clear 5M in cap to handle big buyouts and they surely won’t be able to resign fiala at 8-9M which is likely what it would take . Instead they turn a negative into a positive and pick up a top 7-8 draft pick. They can go with one of the 2 big D (Nemec or Jiricek) or draft a forward. Boldy and Rossi will continue to develop and take on some of fialas minutes/points
I think this is better down as a trade as oppose to offer sheet given how high NJ pick will be and Minnesota would be able to match a 8-9M offer

I think it almost makes sense for both teams, but would be an impatient move by NJD. Better move for them would be to hold, especially if Jiricek is available. Though I do believe Fiala is worth it.

I think Fiala to NJD makes sense.
I don't think Fiala for 5th overall makes any sense.

If Devils can come up with a late 1st between now and the draft, I think that coupled with a lesser prospect would be fair value for Fiala.
