Description
Trading Fiala or Dumba this offseason is inevitable. The rumor from our beat writer all year long (mostly) has been that Fiala will be moved this offseason. My preference is still to keep Fiala, the electric 25 year old has the ability to take over games, had the 2nd highest scoring season in franchise history this year, works his ass off (this can't be understated), and he has matured greatly over the past few years.

All that said, I can't help but wonder if Fiala's lack of scoring during this playoff series has bothered Guerin. Fiala has shown he can be dominant in the playoffs before (see: the 2019-2020 playoff bubble play-in series with Vancouver) so I do think it's only a matter of time, but if we lose this series I would almost be shocked if Fiala isn't moved.

Below are some teams that I think will be in play for Fiala.

Targets for the picks would ideally be centers. Wright should go #1, and Cooley in the top 3, so that would leave Savoie, Nazar, Lambert, and Geekie. If the Anaheim deal is made and either Nemec or Jiricek are still on the board I think we'd take one of them.

Not sure on value, opinions appreciated here. I think Fiala is worth more then the 10th pick but Perrault is worth more than Addison to balance this out.

  1. Addison, Calen

Added Addison in this one, I think there's a chance we move him this offseason as well especially if we keep Dumba. Ducks could use another young RHD to play behind Drysdale.

Comparing the Devils and Ducks offers here.

Not sure why NJ has to give up a much higher pick and the better prospect, yet Anaheim gets the extra asset lol.

Because we're cooler that you guys...

But yeah, I get you. I wonder if his reasoning is more on the "Who knows if/when Gritsyuk comes to the NHL?"

I think he’s coming in 2023 (my guess)

I don't know much about Gritsyuk. He was ranked 7th in your prospect pool by Scott Wheeler at The Athletic who writes "He’s not going to be a star or anything but he looks like a player." To me, that makes him seem like a decent 3rd line player. Perrault on the other hand was ranked 2nd in the Ducks pool and I liked him a lot during his draft year (think he has 2nd line upside). If you think Gritsyuk is the better prospect, be my guest and sub him out mentally for someone you view as a 3rd liner if they reach their potential.

Yeah, he had a pretty strong run in the KHL this year, which likely pushes him up closer to the top of that Devils system.
