Description

From the moves GMBG has made, it feels like he’s not gonna throw a year to come out of the buyout period swinging. I think that means Necas is the best rumored player available from a team interested in Fiala could bring. Can you get a 1st on top of that? IDK.

But I think you can bridge him through the buyout period fairly and sign Boldy when the time comes and still maintain a rather competitive team if the kids develop as planned. I’m also fairly confident Dumba will be re-signed at a lower cap hit (think Barries’s $4.5 by 3 year deal) that makes things much more feasible to compete.

Opening night depth chart. As much as it will kill me to see it, Jost and Freddy will be switched.

I’m aware. But he does fit a need and Necas is a good piece to go the other way. Assume Trochek and Necas out, Fiala in at 7.5 is 1.75 more. But yes, contract is an issue everywhere.

Does Fiala play center? It’s actually Nino UFA money + Necas for Fiala. No chance the Canes play the Arb game with Fiala or sell out 7+m for a guy who just wilted in the playoffs.

Hartman and Necas as the 1C/2C for this team. Rossi/Jost as the other wing on Boldy's line. The 4th line is whatever is left over. I have Rossi as a 50/50 shot to even make the team out of camp. He'll get pounded into oblivion as the 1C.

For the CAR trade I'd want a 2nd coming back too. I don't see OTT having much interest in Jones or Kulikov.
