Description
Bring in some more young guys. Give a maximum of ice time to the 2023 UFAs/RFAs. Do not go and spend big contracts on Free Agency (probably next year since you'll have a better idea on guys like Zadina etc...).

The Wings are entering this FA as the 2nd team with the most money to spend, they are below the cap floor. Take 1yr (2yr max if they are around 3M) cap dumps (probably LTIR hunting too maybe) to get over the cap floor.

People want to rush Cossa. Let him play some more in the AHL before he comes to the big league.

Trades
1.
DET
  1. Mrázek, Petr
  2. 2023 5th round pick (TOR)
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Take advantage of the Leafs' cap situation for some picks. Mrazek can't play worse than how he played last year and knowing the Leafs' luck he's probably gonna have a bounceback season. Anyway, the salary cap won't be an issue and when his contract is up, Cossa will be 21.
TOR
  1. Kadeykin, Alexander [Reserve List]
  2. 2022 7th round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
You don't really have a choice but to trade Mrazek out of town. 2 years left on the deal is the reason I added a 5th.
2.
DET
  1. 2024 7th round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Future Considerations or a 7th who really cares.
ARI
  1. Oesterle, Jordan
Additional Details:
The plan is to let more kids play, I have no use for Oesterle.
3.
DET
  1. Monahan, Sean
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (CGY)
  3. 2024 3rd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Red Wings need to stay above the cap floor. I am taking on a cap dump. I thought about JVR but I went with Monahan since the Flames are desperate for any money they can find AND the sweetener to take the cap dump has a higher value.

My goal is to make every 2023 RFA/UFA play next year but not every forward will lock their roster spot by playing to the level they should play. There will be healthy scratches and there will be injuries that will allow Monahan to see ice time THAT'S IF he recovers. He could also possibly just stay on LTIR without taking time away from the young RFAs.

Anyway, there is only 1 year remaining on his contract and at no point, the Red Wings will have salary cap issues.
CGY
  1. 2022 5th round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
You may have 27M available. But you have to re-sign 3 of your best scorers AND you also have to fill your roster since you only have 12 roster players signed (excluding Monahan).

Every. Penny. Matters.

Even if you decide to give on one of the top 3 FAs

And for a team that still believes that it can contend, the picks have lesser importance to them than the money (especially a 2024 pick).

Not enough of a return to justify taking Mrazek's contract. Pass.

Eh, I think it’s reasonable. Don’t like waiting until 2024 for the 2nd rounder but I think a 2nd is fair. It’d be better with another pick like a 3rd maybe that we can use sooner.

How much do you want. A first for a sub 4M contract??? Last we’ve seen a first get traded in a cap dump was for a 6.25M contract in Marleau I believe. People also forget everything before his Leafs season. Unless if you want their finnish prospects but they’d rather go in another way.

I don’t like what you did with the lineup. Fabbri is not a Center, Berggren should never be playing on the 4th line and Sundqvist should be on the 4th line. Make the 3rd Ras, Veleno & Berg and it’s much better.

I’m OK with the trades.

Mrazek's buyout isn't that bad it makes more sense to just buy him out before giving up a bunch of picks.
