what the pens should do if Geno leaves. (spoiler: it's not looking good without him)

the Guentzel/Crosby/Rakell line played fantastic in limited minutes last season. Zucker/Trocheck/Rust is not the second line you'd want to see for a Stanley Cup contender, but Zucker's production should be much better (as his shooting % will likely regress back to his career avg) and Trocheck is a pretty good center (albeit no Malkin). since the first two lines are pretty solidified (with the exception of 2C being the unknown), the third line is where the Pens need to target high quality players. sorry Hextall et al., but DOC is not going to be the answer if you're losing Geno. Strome and Milano are the top targets for the third line because they are cheap, solid, and have a lot of potential -- some may say the antithesis to their RW counterpart.

ps in this scenario, kapanen is signed by another team and the Pens get draft pick compensation (or they just trade him idk but pls don't run him on the third line with Carter and McGinn/DOC)

pps (for Hextall only because i assume he reads mock acgms before bed)... notice Trocheck's contract.... the exact same as Malkin's desired contract... would you rather have an average C in Trocheck.... or one of the franchise's best players in Malkin... for the same price???? keep in mind that Trocheck's best season (last year) was worse than Malkin's worst season (last year)
