Interesting method and good research. I would guess the closest/most relevant is the Eichel trade. However, I'd swap Sharangarovich for Holtz because the Eichel trade came at a time that he was severely injured and unable to play without surgery on top of him essentially going on public record to say he was done in Buffalo. So Buffalo sold low, and limited their trade options so they could acquire Tuch (Buffalo native).

Would think the Roenick or Carter comps are most likely depending on whether CGY thinks they can just retool or fully wants to tank.

Always appreciate someone taking the time to go through and find a bunch of comps! A whole lot of "well this guy on my team is really good so he's not getting moved unless they get back 6 first round picks" on this board that could easily be avoided if people did even the most basic research into what NHL trades actually look like.

Agree with this. As a Flames fan, I would assume/hope Mercer or Holtz and a first would be the core of the trade while adding another player or prospect.

I have done a bunch of these trade comps for other guys in the past. Always go for a wide range…sone teams will like, come they won’t. But not always meant to be, “here is what NJD would offer”

Sharangovich and Holtz probably hold similar value overall. Holtz more risk, more upside. Both I think will be regular 20-30g guys.



100%. And I believe it is a much more accurate way of find realistic proposals.
