    Not sure where you are getting your information but that doesn't appear to be the case. The cap will most likely remain at $73 million, which means the Pens will need to get creative this offseason.

    source I read said players wouldn't use the full 5% escalator but they'd likely go somewhere between 2-3% so actually seems fair. Can't find the link at the moment but believe it was Bob Mackenzie

    TSN through Larry Brooks reported that the NHLPA will keep the cap flat this coming season.

    Not true at first yes, They thought it might stay flat. But now it'll probably go up 2-3% now because too many UFAs like Shattenkirk get screwed on getting paid if the cap stays flat.

    If the cap stays flat then players like Shattenkirk Alzner even Thornton or Marleau are screwed in getting a decent salary it's arleady been said that the current crop of UFAs wont tolerate a flat cap.
