Description
I think Ullmark likes it in Boston, but has to see the writing on the wall that Swayman is the future bona fide starter and he probably will be traded at some point. Now could be a great opportunity to become THE guy in Vegas if he wants to.

Ullmark and Lehner have identical contracts, but only one is playing this year. Vegas won't take Ullmark with Lehner and wind up with $10MM in goal for the next two years. However, the Bruins are left without a backup and no less of a cap headache beyond this season and for that they take a first-round pick back. Lehner's contract does help them with the cap in a way though, as they are now able to go $5MM over the cap with Lehner on LTIR all year. This would allow the Bruins to add a backup and a couple other UFA pieces now and still have a ton of space at the deadline.

Solid idea especially that i never considered Ullmark an option for Vegas...but in this scenario I cant help but wonder why VGK wouldnt just pay the "division tax" give up a little more than Reilly for Reimer and not trade a 1st round pick for a goalie

I think if this was going to happen, then why would the bruins not just flip Lehner to a third team and get more picks and a backup goalie?

With the deals that Bergeron and Krejci are on they have some cap flexibility and it would be even better with flipping Lehner for next season.
Kessel probably comes for less than 3 mill as the season gets closer and he isn't signed. IF he even wants to go back to Boston, I see him as more of a pick-up for the Kings, Panthers, Oilers, and maybe Columbus.

I don’t mind trading ullmark, but I don’t want lehner he’s not a good fit for us in term of where we are with our goalie tandem, I never really like him, proud of what he accomplish

San Jose isn’t trading Reimer for an injured player with a higher cap hit. Ask for Reimer is rumored at a 2nd. I don’t see an injured Rielly being worth a 2nd.
