2.2 on short term is an pretty easy match for the Leafs. They'll have to trade someone to make a 1.4 contract work and expanding that to 2.2 doesn't really move the needle. It's still likely to be the same guy traded to make that extra 800k space.

Before watching the first two games of the Sabres Prospect Challenge, I would have wanted to trade for a RHD as Walker.
Laaksonen had played really well, blocking shots, making good passes, playing physical so currently I am not so eager to give up draft picks to fill a hole in the line up.
While the price is right, I would pass on the Walker deal.

I'm a fan of all of your ideas. Unlike two of your previous responders, I'm not sure that Toronto matches the Sandin offer sheet so blithely. They obviously have to get rid of either Alex Kerfoot or Justin Holl for cap reasons, and haven't been able to do so yet -- very possibly because of their NTCs. The issue for me is whether Rob Blake wants to burn that particular bridge.

Hmm what about a 3x3M deal? You think that would be little better? To buy one extra year?
