Both trades are bad for Detroit.

Mr Ned is needed in goal this season and can't be traded away for someone that's only a year older than Cossa.

Detroit needs a 3C a lot more than they need yet another LD and we're not going to give out both 2nd round picks and retention slots in order to make the team worse.

Value is bad for Florida in that trade and value is fair in Toronto trade.

With that said, fit, use, and need are terrible in both. Detroit doesn't do either trade, as they make absolutely no sense for us.

I don't think the Florida deal has legs. I'd do the Toronto trade today if they would. Suter will be gone soon and his role reduced this year anyways. Sandin slots in the top 4 instantly. Kerfoot anywhere in the top 9 and can be sold at the deadline for a 2nd or 3rd probably easily. That's an easy yes.

Florida quickly declines, that's terrible for them, doubt that interests the Leafs at all, should probably sign Sandin since you traded for him.
