Both Chicago and San Jose pass.

Not even remotely close for Patrick Kane at 50% retained.

And there's no freaking way that Mike Grier is eating $28,750,000 on Erik Karlsson for the next 5 years for that offer. Plus retaining slightly over $5,000,000 on Brent Burns for the next 3 years or so. That's not what rebuilding teams do.

San Jose isn’t retaining almost $30 mil and taking cap back. That’s just ridiculous

This is terrible for everyone involved.

I know there have been a lot of rumblings about EK. But with a full NMC he has complete control of where he goes which will limit SJ return. His cap hit is not something teams can take on and no GM in his right mind will eat that much for that long. I just don’t see him being moved. To many obstacles.

Lol. Patrick Kane, lol. After all the crap they got for signing Miller trading for that POS scumbag would be hilarious.

I'd be the first to call for P. Kanes head if he did what he was accused of in 2015, and, in fact, I was very much was at the time. I followed it very closely, and that whole "rape" thing turned out to be a girl and her mother trying to scam for money. I can go into further detail and cite references, but I assume you would be capable of doing that yourself if you actually cared. The other stuff about him fighting a cab driver, etc., was inexcusable but also pretty minimal stuff he did when he was very young, had a drinking problem, and was full of himself. Now he is a veteran, total hockey nerd, and family man.

That all being said, CHI declines. Also, I don't see BOS having interest in Kane or any players of his caliber. They'll be looking into depth, if anything, unless they have serious injuries and still want to push for a cup run. Otherwise, if everyone can stay healthy, BOS has a roster with a legit shot at a cup this year.

To your point, it's been a lot of years since but I think the "victims" lawyer actually dropped the case before charges could even be filed. An unfortunate attempted money scam.

Let's be careful saying Kane had a drinking problem. As a mid-20 year old he would drink and party. That would mean 90% of the population had a drinking problem.
