Description
I feel like Couture would be an amazing 2nd line center for the Avs, and with a cap hit of 5.75, that would be huge value for them. Cooch is one of the most underrated PKers in the league, and elevates his game like crazy in the playoffs.

Concerns from the Avs would possibly be:
- the term given his contract expires at 37, but with his style of game, I'd think he'll still have a lot of value even if his production drops with his two-way game.
- Production in the past couple years can pretty easily be summed up as: Timo is the Sharks only competent winger and he plays with Hertl, but Cooch on a 70+ point pace right now and has been incredible in the past 15 or so games
- Cap hit is still a decent chunk but If he did have a massive drop in his game, his contract has no more signing bonuses so it's pretty buy-out friendly. Also the rising cap will make it way more palatable when he's in his last year or two

Compher seems to be having a tough year at pretty high cap hit.

This doesn’t work for the avs, they can’t afford that cap hit next season and beyond

Oh shoot, I forgot Macs contract is doubling next year. I was thinking in terms of the counting against their current cap

Avs decline.

That might be worth doing if Couture were 5 years younger. But no team is going to give up a premium return for a guy signed until he’s 38.

And San Jose probably wouldn’t want to retain for so long anyways.

In terms of the actual return: Compher is having a “down” season because he’s playing the toughest minutes of his career. He’s the Avs top PK guy and gets some PP time. Even if the value is right, I would be surprised if he gets moved.

Behrens is the Avs only defensive prospect and has pretty decent value.

Sharks very likely won't move Couture. The best asset that's actually tradeable is Timo.

Logan, Erik, Pickles are very likely to remain sharks until their contracts are up. Logan is having a great year like Karlsson as well. (Pickles is likely bought out next year making it even harder to retain significant dollars on anyone else)

Agree yo until the Pickles Buy out. it makes no sense next year as we still won’t be competitive next year so to me the earliest he gets bought out is 24 offseason. and if we do that we only get 3 mil cap space in 24/25 and 25/26 then lose 1.67 in space in 26/27 and 27/28 as much as we all want to move on I have a feeling he will be in SJ for the duration of his deal unless he gets injured or opts to retire.
