Description
Let me preface by saying I don't necessarily trust the source, but I am interested in seeing if an EK trade would even be possible with the Oilers current salary situation.

Would likely also have to go to either SJ or another team to get about 20% retention.

In essence, this trade just doesn't make any sense, and I don't understand the thought from the report. Edmonton has to give up far too much (Yam and Pulju, Foegele, possibly other cap) in depth in order to get an RD while they already have Bouchard.

All jokes aside. I can honestly admit that PowerPlay would be something else to watch. Likely better than prime Crosby Malkin Letang.

Oh yeah, definitely a weapon of mass destruction.

I agree. A lot of those players might not make much of an impact, but there is no significant overall improvement really. Another thing to note is that SJ currently doesn't have cap, so it requires cap in, cap-out deal on their side two. So it would require multiple moves to get a deal done. The other thing is that Karlsson probably doesn't want to be in the same locker room as Kane again, so he likely doesn't waive.

There are too many obstacles for a Karlsson trade to Edmonton, so I would actually be shocked if they were able to pull something off.

I tend to agree with Serevalli, Edmonton wouldn't touch this trade with a 10-foot pole. EK is simply not worth it, his current heater aside. He's barely an upgrade on Tyson Barrie but 2x more money with term as he approaches his mid-30's, that's not a player you give ANYTHING up for, let alone EIGHT pieces including two 1sts and two top prospects.

      Crazy, crazy overreaction.

to make this fit sharks would have to take less and retain 25% and Oilers would have to then pay another team like Chicago to retain 15-20% more.
