That is absolutely awful for Calgary. Paying a first and good goalie prospect for a third pairing defenceman that they don't need. They have zero reason to trade Lucic and he wouldn't waive anyways. Also dont see Edmonton entertaining that offer. If they want to move on from JP they can just let him walk at the end of the year.

Edmundson is not worth a 1rst right now but if his play improves he might be worth one near the TDL. He won’t be worth a 2023 1rst though. I think most teams would be hesitant to let go of their 2023 1rst, especially a team like Calgary who might be drafting late teens early twenties vs late twenties.
Calgary also has a pretty good top 4, Edmundson doesn’t improve that.

Calgary isn't giving up their best Goalie Prospect and a 1st for Edmundson. Lucic leaving provides no value since his cap space next season is eaten up by Huby and Weegar. Any player they take on with that space would need to be a rental. Terrible trade for Calgary.
