Voracek is LTIR right now and potentially done, unfortunately. I can't see the sense in Columbus taking in nearly $13M in contracts while sending out an LTIR deal and a guy making $825K, much less giving up a pick this year.

Exactly. 1) I'm not 100% sure, but I'm fairly certain this pushes the Jackets over the cap when they're healthy. 2) This answers fills exactly 0 of the holes that they need to fill, and leaves them as a capped out team again next year.

Above comments mostly cover it, but it's also worth noting that Blankenburg is looking like one of our best all-around blueliners right now and so he's going to be extraordinarily difficult to trade for - right now the only knock on him is that he's been having consistent injury problems and so may not be a long-term solution. Certainly a swap of him for Meyers is a complete nonstarter.

Voracek's career is likely over, So only the real money is expended out. Cap doesn't count with him being on LTIR.
