I'm sure the Leafs would prefer to keep their mid six forward who can play center when needed over a #6/7 dman they probably wouldn't dress unless the injuries massively piled up.

Can't see any team touching Schmidt though Seattle doesn't have the greatest defense but still don't see them having any interest in adding his contract.

Rittich has been decent, why trade him.

Unlikely the Jets do any of this. Kerfoot isn't needed and depth on defense is more important than a meh rental bottom sixer.

Being at the TDL the Jets aren't going to give away Schmidt for nothing or give away their backup goalie for nothing.

These are the exact opposite of what teams do at the TDL

Leafs decline, they are in more need of Forward depth than defensive depth

Trades are bad for all teams and doesn't make WPG better. I like Samberg and Heinola but they're still developing and probably not my first choices for the playoffs this year. Definitely rather have Schmidt's experience at the blue line. And imagine having a backup goalie for the playoffs who hasn't even played in the NHL prior to the deadline. Yikes, man.

These moves might be better suited for the offseason if anything.
Windjammer, MisstheWhalers and Z0ra liked this.
