-Only time in the last 5ish years a goalie was traded for an unconditional 1st was when the Avs traded for Darcy Kuemper with retention before the 21-22 season. I can't see Seattle giving up that much for 20ish games of Varlamov with no retention. I could see a trade being built around Varly going to Seattle, retained, with Martin Jones & futures coming back, but that's the only way I really can see that shaking out.

-Boston would probably give up Reilly for less than a 4th if you want him - if a useful LHD with less term and less AAV like Dmitry Kulikov got sent out for FCs, I'm gonna guess a guy that passed through waivers twice isn't going to cost all that much of anything.

-Can't do conditions on re-signing anymore, so keep that in mind - beyond that, I can't see St. Louis sending out VT with retention and not getting a 1st back. Blues would pass on that.

Reilly is a negative asset. I figured a Boston fan made this deal lmao.

Umm... if they really like Holmstrom, maybe. Would be probably first in line if you switch the SEA 1st in forbHolms and the 2nd.

As a Blues fan I would be pretty on with this return. Pick will probably be somewhere right around #50. Prospects are also good.

As someone has stated you can’t do conditions on signing. I’d still be fine with that return. That being said though, I’m not overly confident in my analysis of Bolduc or Holmstrom. Short viewings of both.
