You can't make picks conditional on resigning anymore, so you'd need to change that.

Re-signing conditions are no longer allowed per current CBA. Also, most likely not enough for Meier -- Im sure NJD's ready to send picks as well as some good prospects in their offer.

Teams need a plan to clear cap by July1st to at least be able to QO Meier. Jets don't and really all all contenders don't have the cap

This is how I look at it...
He's an RFA at season end and is probably gonna make north of 8 AAV. If offer sheeted in the summer his compensation would be 2 firsts, one second and one 3rd.
You'd think the sharks would want the equivalent of that or more at the deadline or they would just wait till summer. Sharks wouldn't need to retain so there isn't any added value from that.
So if the jets made the deal they would be paying for a rental with RFA rights they then could then flip (or not match an offer sheet) in the summer for a lot of value.
I guess what Im saying is...this wont get it done haha
