Better options than Nelson for that 2C spot until Newhook is ready and no need to give up Sammy to do it. JP should be a target in the off season as a FA after EDM doesn't qualify him and retain the assets. Ouch on the former first and this year's first to CHI much as I like the idea of adding Raddysh to Cale and Romaine. The Seeler trade the Avs could do worse. One out of four ain't bad.

This would be a terrible trade for the isles. Over the last two seasons Nelson has been 5x more valuable than Girard. A #4 defenseman doesn’t get you a 30-35 G 1C

It might well be but it would also be a bad trade for the Avs too.

Getting a 1C with retained salary for an underperforming defenseman would be a a great trade for the Avs.

Newhook hasn’t shown he has what it takes to be a 2C
