Laf is a pending RFA. and trading him frees up future salary to re-sign Tarasenko, also giving them more draft pick ammo to use to potentially add more.

As for Leafs, I see Leivo and Bortuzzo as upgrades over Benn and Anderson/Holmberg. The 3rd might be steep, but with Bortuzzo being under contract for another year there's increased value. Wouldn't argue if that was pushed to a 4th and only one 7th though.
