demko rumors seem to be put to bed and thats the only way id see this move happening

I doubt Demko is traded this season, and I actually think it would be a poor idea to move him while his value may be down. That said, if management has made the determination that they wont be competing while Demko is in his prime or that they want to move on for other reasons, then I think this trade makes lots of sense. Demko is 28 this year, Blomqvist just turned 21. Goalies often take more time to develop, even if you think Demko will be here for the next 4 years it's still best to add some prospects sooner than later if your going to need to wait 4-5 years for them to make the NHL.

It’s going to cost a lot more than a 6/7 defenseman and 5th round pick to get Blomqvist

Yeah getting a top goalie prospect for a 6/7th dman and a 5th round pick would make sense for the Canucks. But makes less than zero sense for the pens.
