Description
There have been quite a few posts since the fletcher firing and the team not openly committing to keeping Hart and many of them have pretty outlandish returns. So I have gathered all of the major Goalie trades over the last 10-15 years where a goalie thats younger than 28 gets traded.

Of note since 2020-21 Hart has played 120 games and has a .900 save percentage and turns 25 this summer.

Realistically based on comparables a late 1st and maybe a mid round pick are where his value tops out at atm. Goalies that go for things like a top 15 pick are already top tier goalies in their mid 20s not struggling like hart has.
Trades
1.
PHI
  1. Schneider, Cory
Additional Details:
Traded for the 9th overall pick in 2013.

Not a great comparable. Schneider at the point of trade had been a .931 goalie the last 3 seasons (a league high). Signifigantly more value than Hart currently has
NYI
2.
PHI
  1. Andersen, Frederik
Additional Details:
Traded for a 30th overall pick (position known at time of trade)and a future 2nd rounder

This is much more in line with the top of the value Hart has. Anderson at the time was sitting at a .918 over 125 games in the prior 3 years which is much better than what Hart has done.
CAR
3.
PHI
  1. Murray, Matt
Additional Details:
Traded for Gruden (depth prospect) and a 2nd round pick in 2020.

Murray had struggled the last year before trade but had accomplished signifigantly more than Hart has so far.

.909 in 135 games in the previous 3 years
TOR
4.
PHI
  1. Lehner, Robin
Additional Details:
Traded along with legwand for 21st overall pick (position known at the time)

Lehner while not having the games Hart has was statistically much better than what hart has done over the last 3 years

.915 in 73 games previous 3 years
VGK
5.
PHI
  1. Bobrovsky, Sergei
Additional Details:
Traded for a 2nd and two 4ths.

A ppretty questionnable trade from the flyers back in 2012 where they gave up on a early 20s bobrovsky for a mediocre return.
FLA
6.
PHI
  1. Georgiev, Alexandar
Additional Details:
Traded for 2 3rds and a 5th.

.905 in 86 games.

Obviously a little lower in value than hart but shows how unless a goalie is at the peak of their performance they arent worth much.
COL
7.
PHI
  1. Vanecek, Vitek
Additional Details:
Traded for a move up from 45 to 37 and a 3rd round pick.

.908 in 79 games.

Again shows the dropoff in value even if a goalie is still "young".
NJD
8.
PHI
  1. Kähkönen, Kaapo
Additional Details:
Traded for Middleton (valued between a 2n and 3rd at the time). A 5th rounder also went with Kahkonen.

.908 in 65 games

Again the drop off in value.
SJS
9.
PHI
  1. Halák, Jaroslav
Additional Details:
Traded for Lars eller and Ian Shultz in 2010.

Eller had been a 13th overall pick in 2007 and while by no means a bad player wasnt looking to be the impact player a 13th overall pick could be at the time the trade was made.

Halak in the prior 3 years had a .921 in 85 games and a massive run in the previous playoffs with a .923 over 3 rounds.

Gotta factor in contract as well though. IIRC, Freddy Andersen was an RFA one year away from UFA status. Hart has another year at under 4 mil and will be an RFA at expiry.

But mostly, all goaltending trade value year to year is incredibly wack. Nobody actually knows what goalie trade value is outside of the top 5 guys, and they never get moved.

Also factor in goaltending depth a lot of those trades were trades from a position of strength. If I’m phillys gm, I try to lock him down or nobody safe and tear it right down to nothing.

Anderson situation was actually BETTER than Harts will be if Philly wants to do the trade before the draft.

You can see from the trade timeline FA's extension was agreed to before the trade (trade and extension happened same day). With Hart until July 1 you dont have that option you have to trade for him without a long term deal in place and with a just shy of 4.5 million QO he can walk himself to UFA status with minimal monetary risk.

That might be a difficult task though. He cant be extended until July 1 and only has 2 RFA seasons left and has a pretty solid QO (4.479 million). Hart does have quite a bit of leverage to get himself out in 2 years if he doesnt want to stay long term.

Yeah but the team acquiring him is gunna talk to his agent about signing a deal on july 1. Any team trading for him isnt looking for immediate results, theyd be viewing hart as a long term investment.
