Dallas declines. They can sign Matty as a free agent in 2025 if they want. No need to give up their franchise defenceman for him. This would leave them cap strapped and with a massive hole in the blue line

Two terrible trades. Why does Dallas trade so much for one year of Matthews? Why'd do the Leafs trade so much for one year of Scheifele? Please no nonsense about resigning players....totally invalid for trade purposes.

matthews is resigning with the leafs, and i dont think the leafs want schiefele. overrated af and terrible defensively, pretty massive overpay as well

But it’s not invalid? Horvat resigned. In fact many “rentals” resign. That’s a fantasy that’s exists here and not in the real world.
