How the PLD saga will go the next year or so

Here is what is going to happen between now and the 2024 ufa period.

PLD will go into the draft not having a long term extension. Qualifying offers are due the monday following the draft. So his contract situation going into the draft will still be up in the air as the jets would be idiots to give the QO before then in case he takes it (he going to take it)

The jets will try to trade him at the draft but will ultimately not because other GMs are also not stupid enough to value him as a long term asset when he has the hammer to walk himself to ufa in a year, has done steps to do that already, and has a beefy enough qo to be willing to take a samll paycut for a year. Jets will be unwilling to take what would be a rental level return.

Year goes on the jets try to sign him around january. Goes nowhere.

Tdl comes and depending on the jets playoff spots they either keep or trade as a rental.

Offseason comes and he leaves the jets and signs as a ufa elsewhere.
