I hate the idea of petry but cheap and retained Detroit takes him. It's the exact kind of cheap vet to plug holes tactic yzerman has done since he got here.

You'll get a lot better returns on Letang and Malkin with retention, a lot of the league is still cap strapped. Might give Boston a call, they have almost no centers next season. Malkin at 3 mil will be VERY enticing for them, but there's not much in the way of assets left to give up for it. Same Story with a lot of the teams with closing windows, most of their draft capital went out the window this year.
