Why would monahan take a cheap deal to play 3C in montreal with garbage wingers, when his only reward for playing well will be being traded without any say in the destination

Eventually montreal will need to put a package together to get a goalie like Wolf or Levi or Askorov.... But it will be when that teams wants to trade a goalie so a fair deal is possible we dont need this goalie next year and we can wait. They will draft a couple this year .. and we do have 3 goalies in the system including primeau and one of them might develop. If not we trade for one after next season and pay the assets then.. It is like these trades for dubois... why overpay for now when now doesnt matter.
