Tyler Myers? A 2nd? No way. No contending team will have $6M freef at the deadline, so vAN wants to move him they will have to retain 50% no matter what. You're not getting incentive for that. He's a big slow terrible defenseman. He's worth a 3rd at best.

Jets management has a Lowry boner so they likely decline.

I don't think that anyone's going to be impressed by retaining the remainder of $1 million in salary, and if you meant cap hit, it's routine for teams to retain 50% at the deadline, just as @Mr_Gardoki says. Myers' on-ice value (assuming he's not on the injured list) is minimal at best to a team that has an unexpected opening on the second or third pair, so carrying that $6 million cap hit for three-quarters of the season seems like poor management to me, especially since you basically haven't made any changes to the team that didn't come close to sniffing the playoffs this year. (You don't really think that Lowry and Mayfield instead of Boeser and Garland are suddenly going to make the Canucks contenders, do you?)

I remember when Nucks fans laughed at Severson for Garland trades....ones as a Devil fan I wouldn't want to move Severson for him. Now I wouldn't even trade a 2nd for Garland.

We took the same view with Subban. “Someone will bite at deadline,” we told ourselves. “After his bonus, the $1 million cash hit is small”… No one came.
