Sure if you want to give up the extra 4th the Avs should take it but imo those two are pretty much a straight swap hockey trade waiting to happen. Not sure you'd pick Hayes up that cheaply with that much retention for 3 years though, given that there will likely be other bidders (though you at least removed one potential adversary there trading with the Avs).

Its tough, because I feel like Hayes needs significant retention to be tradable, but once its there he's good value. I wonder if the Panthers would do Samoskevich instead of one of the 2nds, if needed

For what Noesen has provided at his cap hit, he isn’t getting moved. I could see the Canes having some interest in Duclair, but moving Noesen is out of the question right now.

I don't think it requires a LOT more as Hayes hasn't ever really posted massive totals or anything stellar to warrant that kind of deal. A lot of his 'availability' comes from earlier this year though and the buy out rumours etc. Hard to know how much is really true there.

I'd say, out of all the trades that have the Avs moving Girard out, this is the one that makes the most sense and helps the Avs the most. That being said, I'd rather they move Toews than Girard but that doesn't make as much sense for the Panthers. All things considered, if the Avs sent Girard out for Bennett, I'd be fine with it. If they instead got one of Lundell or Luostarinen, I'd be even more fine with it.
