Can't see the Blues trading the 10th overall pick to move Scandella or to a division rival. If the Blues did consider this, the Hawks would be sending the TBL 1st rounder (#20) back for sure.

Scandella isn’t going to cost a lottery pick to dump.

He’ll maybe cost a 3rd to dump. Honestly he’d probably return a 3rd at the deadline with retention.

Also the blues trading their first pick in the top 10 in many many years to the Hawks is a laughable thought. Can’t see the reception going over in a way that’s even close to positive

So, 100% understood it won't be #10 even if STL doesn't win the lottery. Would you consider a drop back from the TOR/DAL 1st rounder? What about Scandella and either of those later 1sts...let's pretend and say if either make it to the conference finals...it's that one aka pick 29-32, FOR the OTT 2nd? Moving back ~15 slots?

I still don't think they would do that. Scandella isn't bad enough to pay a team to take him and only has one year left on his deal. The Blues could also just buy him out. Make it Leddy or Krug and they might but both of those players wouldn't accept a trade to Chicago.

Depends on where those picks land. The blues aren't looking to be a contender next year. Our GM has said he probably won't be trading back with any of our picks. They are either getting packaged together to move up or the most likely scenario is we move one or both for a young roster player. Other than that Scandella's contract isn't a real hinderance to us. If we are going to make big moves on defense it's either trading one of Parayko, Krug, Leddy or moving the firsts with Scandella for a younger top 4 defensemen
