Description
Every year the GM (whoever he is) says we need to get younger and Sully says we need to get tougher to play against but overall it hasn’t happened in a while
And now after Ron Hextall has destroyed a winning franchise in about 2 years it’s up to whoever the new management team will be to right the ship and actually begin the retool/rebuild

I don’t want to trade Guentzel but honestly signing him to a max extension makes zero sense as we MIGHT be a playoff team next year but after that probably not… if we keep him to start next year then flip him at the deadline I can at least see that strategy but most likely PIT will still be able to talk themselves into being in it even if they’re not… basically it comes down to not wanting to lose Guentzel for nothing. I love him and it’s been amazing to watch him develop into a perennial 40-goal scorer but even he’s about to hit 30 and at this point what else can he accomplish with us… obviously former PIT execs in MIN and VAN (presumably) would have interest in Jake so that’s where I’m trying to work out a deal at least top of mind
*the jarry and zucker contracts are take it or leave it type

Curious as to your thinking… POJ stuck with the team for a full season and is a solid #4 option long term while podkolzin couldn’t even stick and was send back to the ahl for development… sounds like POJ is a year or two ahead of him

POJ is 1 or 2 years ahead of him because he is 2 years older...

This makes sense since POJ is two years older than Podkolzin. Canucks just aren't in need of a LHD right now honestly. They have Hughes, OEL (sadly), and like 3 or 4 solid LHD prospects in Hirose, Rathbone, Pettersson, and Brisebois. If POJ was a right handed dman, they would consider it a bit more, but.. he's not.
